aluminum body painting

Hey! I've got an 03 carryall turf 2 and am thinking about painting some of the aluminum body along with the cowl. My question is what do I need to do to get good adhesion to the aluminum panels. I intend to give it all a good acid wash and will polish what I don't plan on painting but what do y'all recommend to get good adhesion to the alum. I know I need adhesion promoter for the plastic but do I need anything on the aluminum besides a good primer?

You should wash it good and let dry. Sand the entire body....1st with 120 grit, wash off and let dry...then use a 400-600 grit and repeat.
After drying make sure it is free of any particles and prime with a good primer....self etching is best but at least a good high adhesion primer. Wet sand that with 1000-1200 grit. Wash and let dry good. Go over it with a tack cloth and you are ready for the first coat of paint. Go with an automotive paint and you can choose any car/truck color you like.
If there are any paint experts out there maybe they will chime in and let us know if I have anything wrong.

I second self etching primer.

Follow the directions, thin coat, wait the correct time for your temperature/humidity, and do the next coat.

Thank You for the advice. that's exactly what I needed to know I have seen tons of great advice and help on these pages and have soaked up reams of info and will continue to do so. I will post pics once the project is complete
