Default Drive 2 - Run/Tow won’t engage.

2019 Drive 2 48 volt.

Cart won’t run. Solenoid won’t click. Reverse buzzer doesn’t buzz. Run/Tow switch doesn’t turn on and turn off. In fact, the cart acts like it’s constantly in “tow”. Can push it in “run” without it engaging motor.

Check for a blown fuse - if not that then it's probably a failed controller.

Ok. How do I test the controller?

Had a 2017 Drive 2 quit on the golf course a few days ago. It showed the same symptoms. One of the wires on the back of the Run/Tow switch had become brittle and was broken in half.

Repaired the broken wire and everything is fine again.

I checked the three fuses on the harness in the rear of the cart. Are there other fuses to check?

My Drive carts are 2009 and 2012 so I don't know what they changed by 2019. You need to look at a wiring diagram. My carts had the wiring diagram in the owner's manual. Maybe someone else here has experience with newer Yamaha carts. My cart has a 3 amp fuse that powers the key switch, run/tow, and solenoid. It's an inline fuse in the wiring harness behind the driver under the seat.

Cart is fixed!

I called Don at Plowmans.com.

He walked me through doing a continuity test on the phone. Deduced that it was “probably” the controller.

I ordered one from him for $300 which included taxes and shipping. (My local shop was charging $600 for the same stock, DC Moric controller.)

Popped the controller on and the cart was fixed.

Thanks Buggies Gone Wild and thank you Don!
