prep work for painting plastic bodies

Adhesion promoter is typically sprayed on just like paint,with a spray gun or out of a bomb can, I have however read on the label that you can apply it by brush if you want but would not recomend this option as it will not come out smooth.

Good Info, How would I hand this one. Have a cart that was originally white, someone painted it blue but did not prep it well so now parts of it is flaking off the front cowl in big pieces. Then the person who owned it before, tried to do so a just a crappy repair and just BOMB right over the body that was showing as well as the flaking paint.

So what's best to deal with the flaking paint that is on the cart, sand it? Do I take it down to plastic, how do I know if after I go through all the steps you suggest, I won't run into problems with the original paint job still flaking.

I have an Old G1 that has the plastic front cowl, with some cracks in it, is thier anyway to repair this plastic? i am going to be doing some fiberglass work on the rear end but what can i do for the front

Did I read this right? I spray adhesion promoter on and then use the wax and grease clear afterward? Won't this remove the AP???

Good catch Clayton I think I got a little ahead of myself there, to much typing.
You do not need to wipe it down with wax and grease after the adhesion promoter. I usually let my adhesion promoter sit for about 30 min at 60 to 70degrees then prime.

? i found a adhesion promotor that is also a plastic primer! can i use this? its a bomb can and im painting my cart with automotove paint with a gun but this is the only adhesive promotor i can find!

The adhesion promoter I found from Dupli-Color said it was a primer also. I shot 2 coats of it and let it dry around 20 mins and then hit it with rustoleum black primer.

k sounds good thanks!!! should i be priming my cart a specific color or does that not mayyer so much? im painting my cart metallic frost blue! its a light blue
