Ok, that helps a lot.

I was leaning towards seals, but yours are new.

When it dies, you need to check for spark. That should be easy on your 3pg since the spark plug is on top. Carry another plug with you. When it dies, yank your wire, stick in the new plug, and hold it against the engine while cranking.

After that, we will check for fuel flow.

Mine is doing the same exact thing. Same era cart/engine, newer rings/seals. I'm going to carry an extra plug and see if it doesn't have spark when hot. We seemed to think it was the coil.

Any updates on your issue?

Mine (1990) also is doing the same thing. I've replaced the carb, plug and solenoid. I've not yet replaced the rings and seals. I'll also try the extra plug and look for a spark.

My 1990 3pg marathon just started this. New rings/bearings/seals/fuel pump/cap/carb. Runs like a beast cold. Once shut off it turns over but not start or take forever. Let it cool and it bump starts. I do have cheap plastic fuel/pulse line not the thick rubber lines. I had to blow in gas tank today to get it to start. Seemed vapor locked. Tomorrow I'm replacing all lines with thick rubber OEM style lines. Also bring plug with. I'll reply asap on my findings.
