1993 Marathon HD F-N-R Upgrade Questions
This is my first post. Be gentle
I purchased a 1993 Marathon 36v cart. It has a 1204 Curtis controller. I am trying to upgrade the power. I have purchased a heavy duty FNR switch. The new switch does not have the double micro switch that the original one has. Because of that, I am at a loss as to how to wire up the switches and the reverse buzzer. The new FNR looks identical to the old one except for the micro switches, so I'm wondering if it is really even beneficial to upgrade the switch. What are my options? My next purchase was going to be a 400 A rebuilt controller from golframa. Am I wasting time and money? I mean more time and money than I already have for getting into golf carts in the first place. Thanks |

Re: 1993 Marathon HD F-N-R Upgrade Questions
Sounds like you might have gotten one of the 'so called' heavy duty switches. One BGW member told me he had burnt up 2 'HD switches' already and if he burnt up mine he wanted his money back! That's been quite some time ago
Nobody makes the switches as HD as I do and they have 2 new Micro Switches and a new back up beeper on them...I have applications for 1977 to present. Temporary, I mean, rebuilt controllers are okay if you are trying to sell a non running cart. If you intend to keep the cart, go with a new control. On your original question, just take one of the micro switches from the old F&R and install it on the new F&R... hope this helps |

Re: 1993 Marathon HD F-N-R Upgrade Questions
ScottyB said to put my old double switch on. I did. The reverse buzzer works, but no forward or reverse. It worked fine before the switch. Is there a fuse or something that could have blown during the conversion?

Re: 1993 Marathon HD F-N-R Upgrade Questions
When I say it worked fine. I meant before I had taken the original FNR switch off. I put the new switch on and wired it based on a diagram I had found. If I fried something, what would it be?

Re: 1993 Marathon HD F-N-R Upgrade Questions
I'm not quite sure what my exact problem was, but I ordered a new Alltrax controller and super duty solenoid from ScottyB and I'm back in business.
His parts came with detailed instructions and everything worked the first time I turned the key and with a lot more power. Thanks everyone. |
