hauling the cart
I am getting ready for the summer motorcycle rally season, (the reason for the cart). I have a toy hauler but because of it's design, I will be creating some very tight spaces, inside, between the cart and the bike. How are some of you hauling both your bike and your cart? I saw a local graphis shop bus go by today with an EZGO hanging on the back. It looked like it was in one of those typical bumper hitch basket style carriers. I have never seen one of those rated to carry more than 500lbs. The 500lbs is based upon the capacity of the hitch and not the basket hooked to it.
Is anyone familiar with one of these that are or can be rated to carry a cart? |

Re: hauling the cart
Assuming you had a vehicle with sufficient frame strength, it wouldn't be difficult to build one. I can tell you that mine would bolt directly to the frame rails and not a Class III receiver, though. That just doesn't sound like a good idea on any level.

Re: hauling the cart
Yep I don't think I'd want it mounted to my receiver either. If you had something built to attach to the frame would probably be very expensive when you can buy a small trailer for under $500 if you look around.

Re: hauling the cart
Not sure I want my cart hanging off the back of my hauler like this...... but it's an idea.

Re: hauling the cart
That looks very similar to what they had Essness. After the long weekend, I'll have to stop by their shop and see what they had set up.
I totally agree. A class III hitch wouldn't do it. I was thinking maybe 3 class III's so the support was spread amonst them. But, even then, the entire thing is being suporrted by the rear frame the hitches are bolted/welded to. I have a 6 by 10 garden trailer with a ramp. But I'm trying to avoid the tandem trailer rig. It may be a matter of adjusting the interior of the toyhauler to allow for both vehicles. Certainly the most secure way. Thanks for the comments. If nothing else you confirmed my own thoughts. |

Re: hauling the cart
Versahaul is only rated for 700 pounds, I think I read that our Ezgo is around 900, and it's $900+. I think I can find a trailer for under $500.00.

Re: hauling the cart
Essness, that is the trickest trailer I have ever seen. But I'd rather apply the $6400 to a new toy hauler. I wonder what their prices will be like when they get some competition?
