I would replace the tank. That stuff is hard to get anything to stick to - and whatever you use has to be able to stand up to constant contact with the gasoline.

Re: New question-Plastic welding?
yeah I have tried but this is actually an early Stihl Auger that works and runs like a scalded dog but other then a gas cap and an auger extension no parts are readily available for. Since most of the tanks I have seen on the club cars are plastic I thought somebody may have come up with a method

Re: New question-Plastic welding?
I have already used a soldering gun with a flat tip and melted the crack back together.

Re: New question-Plastic welding?
I had a 4 wheeler once with a spot worn thru the tank. It leaked all the time. I was able to fix mine and it never leaked again.
I have a good airless plastic welder. It comes with lots of different types of plastic filler rods for things such as the plastic bumper covers, dash covers and the such. In the bunch is something they call universal rod as well. It's a kit that is sold by Snap On tools as well as other places. It isn't cheap coming in at $200 plus but I've found was a good investment. With the right tool a plastic tank can be repaired successfully. |

Re: New question-Plastic welding?
Tank should be HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) if that helps.
