Default Former sparky CC owner looking to go to the dark side.

Friends have Yami gassers, so I think I'll join the ranks.

I'm lazy, and my searches weren't turning up what I wanted.

There are a few Yam gassers available close by. A '96, an '00, and a '02.

Can you guys clue me in to the differences in models? Most interested in engines/mods.

But if one is more desirable, I would look harder at it.


My use is 90% golf. I'd like a mild lift, wheels/tires, stereo, lights, etc.. If any of that makes a difference.

'96 is probably a G14 or G16. 14 has the body of a 16, but the older, smaller engine, like the G2,8,9.

'00 is most likely a G16. '02 is most likely a G16, or it could be a very early G22. The 22 has a larger engine--357cc vs 301cc-- and rack and pinion steering.

Newer is going to be better--I don't thing you can go wrong with a G16 or G22. I've got 1 of each.

If you plan to do performance mods to the original engine, Plowmans has what you need.

I'm a fan of the G-22 model Yamaha gassers. As Dave notes above, they have the bigger engine, rack & pinion steering and a Dana transmission/differential. With a Plowman's clutch and performance kit, you can have a dependable cart that will give you 30MPH if you want it, and still be dependable. Plus, in my opinion, they're still one of the better looking carts out there. G-22's are 2003 to 2007 year model carts.

G22 started in '04, its a G14 or G16. Easy way to tell a G14 is an air inlet just behind the drivers legs on the body. Both are awesome, but i would prefer a G16 for some minor details (better availibity of motor parts for G16 in the future, i think G2-9 vacuum control valve may vanish in the future, stuff like that). Wish there was a G16 with the "bomb proof" Yamaha built axle. Get a yamaha gasser, and all your OBC problems will be gone forever. This seems obvious, but gas cars are noisier than electric cars (you would be surprised how many "im never buying $800 batterys again!" people missed that fact). On the plus side, you can drive it for a month or more without the worry of "plugging it in". I drove mine to work every day without refuling it for a month at a time (stupid road construction has shut me down for a while).

Here's the body tag from the G22. The cart s# was removed before I bought it. The key switch and plug is like the G16. It must be a very early one...

Thanks a ton for the insight guys!

Due to a budget cut in the toy department, I'm looking hard at the '96, out of necessity.

So, that would make the model a G16?

Smaller engine, from the sounds of it. I could skip the lift, but I'd still want some 12's or 14's on it.

This is the one available nearby. Prices vary from state to state, but what is something like this worth?
