Yamaha gas engine with heavy white smoke
After changing out old gas with fresh, engine smokes white heavy. Will run about 20 feet then dies. I did change gas filter and sprayed carb cleaner in the disconnected lines before connecting them back. What else could I try to keep it simple?

Did you mistakenly put diesel in it?

Re: Yamaha gas engine with heavy white smoke
Change the oil. I bet its way overfull. If so, a new carb needle may fix it. The year/model wasnt stated, if its a G2-G14, the oil rings may be carbon/gummed up. Extra fuel makes black sooty smoke, and will foul the plug, and make the oil level read overfull quickly . Oil burning will make white smoke, and usually shows with low oil levels, needing more often. A "too-full" oil condition (caused by too much fuel in the oil) will also cause white smoke. "half-way up the dipstick XXX's" is normal. Do an oil change and fill with 1 QT of oil, no more. And make sure the airbox isnt loaded with oil, if the air filter is saturated with oil, its gotta be replaced..
