Wink Can an Ez-Go axle w/motor/diff. fit in an 85 Yamaha

I have a 1985 Yamaha that we are trying to resusitate from hurricane Ike. I think the salt water killed it. Immediately after Ike it worked fine. A few weeks later, it would not work. The motor is shot and we cannot get it off. The corrosion has it stuck. We have tried everything to get it off. Beating it, really high temperature, everything. So my husband (who right now knows nothing about golf carts) thinks that he could swap out the whole axle from an Ez-go to the yamaha. Is that possible and would it work? Does anybody out there have an answer? I would appreciate anything. Thanks!!
