Brake Noise
So, I replaced my brake pads, drums, and cables with a complete kit i bought, everything seemed of decent quality. They were OK for a while, didn't seem to stop as much as I had hoped they would.
But then they started making noise. I've read all the threads on here about brake noise I could find. One I read mentioned cleaning everything, so I did that, took everything off and hosed it all down with brake cleaner and compressed air, and to my surprise it worked, I was silent. And the brakes were working at least 25% better. For a few days. But the noise came back. The braking power is still increased over the pre cleaned brakes. The noise is only there when I apply the brakes, no matter how hard or soft, and it is a softer squeak followed by a louder squeak - like a two note rhythm. Slower the cart is moving the longer the squeaks. It is only coming from one side. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Re: Brake Noise
take apart bad side and look for any shinny spots that might be rubbing....i have had to smear a little "sticky grease" on the backing plate where the shoes move in and out before to finally shut one up....clean , dry stuff squeaks , ....
i hate brake noise with a passion.... |
