Re: Icon I60 Speaker Noise / Whine When Accelerating
Checking back in to follow-up on the cause and solution.
After testing and isolating all of the components individually, the wine was being caused by interference being picked up though the MTX AWBTSW bluetooth receiver and controller. I was able to replace it this weekend with the JL Audio MBT-RX Marine Rated bluetooth receiver. Not only is the whine completely gone, but the speakers sound way better, much louder, and much more clear. In retrospect, this was the way to go from the beginning as it would have made installation much more simple as well since I would not have to had run wires to the dash of the cart. As it is now, I kept the power, ground and remote wires I ran from the amplifier to the old MTX bluetooth unit and installed them in a basic rocker switch so that I can turn off the speakers from the front without having to use my phone. If I did it again, I would not do the same thing, and just pick up the remote power from the fuse box, since it is already on a switched power supply. Notably, I was able to remove all of the inline power filters and it sounds great. Hopefully this helps someone going through what I went through, which was not fun at all. |
