Motor problems
Took apart my motor today and I have a broken wire (no wonder I’m having issues). Not looking for anything fancy, just wanna replace my stock motor. I only use the cart to actually play golf. 😁
Buying from golf cart store is like $1000! Any recommendations? Have shop rebuild it, buy online? Where should I go online? Lots of sites, don’t want to buy crap. Thanks all! |

Re: Motor problems
Saw on a previous thread plum quick and D&D motors. That post was a number of years ago. Still reputable? Thoughts?

Re: Motor problems
There is a compatibility issue if you plan on using the stock PDS controller.
Sepex drive systems like the PDS change the motor's speed/toque curve during operation be changing the the amount of amps flowing through the field windings. This is done by the controller and is based on a motor specific field map that is loaded in the controller. The stock PDS controller (Curtis 1206MX) has a field map loaded for a stock PDS motor and is not programmable, so it will only run a stock PDS motor or one with the same field weakening limitations curve. If you plane to use your stock PDS controller, contact PQ, D&D and Carts Unlimited, or the other motor vendors, and ask if the have any motors that will work properly with a stock PDS controller. Another route is going to an aftermarket user programmable controller such as an Alltrax XCT48x00-PDS, into which field maps for any sepex motor that will fit in your cart, can be uploaded. (The x in the XCT model number is replace with a 3, 4 or 5 for a 300A, 400A or 500A version https://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltrax-xct-sepex--.html) |

Re: Motor problems
So I just bought the cart used, it had a 400amp alltrax in it that burnt up, so I replaced with a stock PDS controller from buggies unlimited (before I knew I had a motor problem). So would rather just replace with something compatible with this controller. I’ll call those companies and see what I can find. Thanks for the info. We will have to try some other options on my next build! :)
