Re: Tire size, how much is too much for off roading?
If you are planning on staying with a stock motor,do some clutch-mods at least and stick with 22's.My Marathon has the 244 2-stroke,and i shimmed the clutches and also removed the shim between the sheaves on the secondary so it closes tighter. The most noticeable mod was shimming the primary. It runs like a different machine because it raises engagement rpm and allows you to rev it in mud.The belt is another good mod,but i haven't tried it yet.We had my cart in thick, slimy mud over the axle with 500lb of me and a friend and crawled thru it pretty good,we were all impressed.Hope this helps

Re: Tire size, how much is too much for off roading?
Well; almost a year in service has concluded this......
-the setup Stock 295 Short belt Heavy primary spring (1800 engagement) 23x10.50 V bar tires The verdict -Weak, but enough for fun in most situations. -Breakout torque, very poor. Momentum is your best friend. -Don't even think about spinning through signifigant mud. Momentum quickly bleeds off and you're left without any torque when it does stop. -Does OK on sugar sand, but it giving all it has. I wouldn't be surprised to see an overheat in continuous operation. |
