Re: Ezgo st 2+2 hot seat!
Will do. They are a little cheaper I believe, like $15 I think and already made for marine use.. Better yet I think my bud has one I can borrow... But really I am thinking about just getting the heat out of that compartment.. So I may go back to just the fan with a hose attached that blows out from under the back of the cart. The engine will cool itself in a cool environment. Like you said, it may take a few thought cans to figure this out..

My Honda literally roasted my arse on the trails a CAW. I'd be curious to see what everyone comes up with.

Not quite as bad on a workhorse cuz the motor is farther back but it still gets hot. Only problem is, it has been 100+ here with 90% humidity everyday. Don't really notice the seat being hot because everything is hot already. Glad I bought the 100qt cooler.

Re: Ezgo st 2+2 hot seat!
I think that the marine fan idea has some merit after looking at this last night.
But besides PULLING air out, I think we have to think about overall air movemment. We need to get cooler air in AND get the hot air out. This has led me to believe I need TWO fans. One pushing air in maybe via tube from under the floor boards in front of the engine and one PULLING hot air out from behind the motor and under my rear seat. I think I can do it near the rear access panel or via a another tube (maybe like an exhaust) out the back or side... I am now convinced that movement, not just trying to remove hot air is key (this is after thinking about other air movement systems... even in your house. it has to flow. |

Re: Ezgo st 2+2 hot seat!
That might help some. But the motor is all types of warm too.
I took my skid plate off which helped A LITTLE. my new thing is going to be to mount two 12v fans. 1 is mounting to the front of the skid plate where it angles up and is going to pull air from below/infront of the motor and push it towards the motor. The 2nd one is going to mount on the maintenance panel below the rear seat. This will be a 12inch fan. I am going to cut the hole about 10" diameter, cover with a small black alluminum create/screen and mount the fan so it pushes air from in the body out under the seat.... Kids legs can get warm for all I care. I just need to get rid of my EZGO factory heated seats. |

Hey citrix_guy,
Any idea what fan your going to run with? Maybe a link? Or make & model? I need to add a skid plate before the weather turns. I'm thinkin header wrap, and a fan might keep it relatively cool in there. Thanks. |

I haven't done squat yet. Haven't had time. Too busy fixing other crap. I am going to get a bilge fan when I can and try that. Cant take off the skid plate, too many bad things we run over..

One thing that comes to mind is an insulator pad like those found on the underside of car hoods. Wonder if you could get one from the junkyard, cut it to fit, and staple it to the bottom/underside of the seat.
