Mike, I live n Anthem but work donwtown. Anyplace you would reccomend to get parts for my kart here in Phoenix. I drove over to Sun City West yesterday to get a key for it and put about 100 miles on the car.

I took the cap off the bottom of the tank this morning and the filter was black. I think it is time for a new one.

Found the pictures, doesn't look bad except for 2 things; is the frame bent in front where the bumper mount is pushed in? And the clutch must have exploded! Need to get into that and replace what ever happened in there. And replace the cover.

Then get a jakes 6" lift. You'll be very pleased with it!

Today was huge!!! Not only did the cart start and run very well but I also took it around the block a couple times. Still needs a new clutchbut after that I am on to the cosmetic side of things. Starting to think about painting but I dont think its going to be as easy as spraying it down. I value all your opinions so lets hear it, any ideas?

I would continue maint. and driving it around. I drove mine for 2 or so months just learning and reading on here, what could, and what should be happening. Keep cleaning it up. In the end, I ended up taking mine down to bare frame, cleaning and detailing and maintenancing each part as I put it back on.

Mike, I still need to get a new clutch so that is the number 1 priority. I was amazed that I could still drive it even with the clutch in the condition it was in. I am going to pull off all the body plastic and start cleaning everything up real good on the inside. I am almost afraid to start pulling it apart too much. I am one of those guys that will always have a bucket of left over parts when Iam done. LOL!!
I would like to start getting some ideas as far as painting. My original plan was to paint it like your yellow cart but using blue with a yellow stripe. Also need lift kit, new tires, brakes and some other things. This is going to get pricey!!

dj, sounds good, but if the prim. sheave is still good (no holes warn through it) you can put new weights on it, so you need to investigate before you spend money.
Removing the body is a good idea, and just do one venture at a time. Good way to learn. We are always here to make sure you get it back together correctly!!
A friend of mine painted the stripe on mine, I couldn't have done it. But you can paint it and buy a stripe kit in vinyl, I bet for a decent price.
And brakes, make sure they are "GENUINE YAMAHA SHOES!!" The rest are just no good!
Wheels and tires, just go to "Discount Tire" and tell them you want a deal!! Lift, dang near impossible ta beat a Jake's
