87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
What would be easy/cheap way to beef up the rear suspension on a 87 EZGO gas? I haul the kids around on the back seat and I need stiffer shocks/springs.

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
don't know if they are available anymore, but the springs on an 800gxt utlilty cart are a lot heavier duty. the first pic is of the 800 stock. second is one of the 800 on the bottom and a marathon spring on top.

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
There are HD leaf springs, would it be possible to convert the coil rear end to a leaf spring like on an electric?

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
I was kinda hoping for a application or part number for HD springs or coil over shocks even if for a different application.

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
Look at an auto part store, E-Z-GO don't make those springs anymore. Remove the spring, take it in to the store and see if they can come up with anything.

Anyone know if coil-over shocks will fit in the stock shock location?

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
So I installed a set of rear springs off a 2010 VW GTI and a set of coil overs off a ATV. Should work out good. Cheap too- the springs were free and the shocks were $15.

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
That's a cool set up. I've got to ask ya amc, did the gti springs change the ride height at all? Also how smooth/stiff is the ride now?

Re: 87 EZGO rear suspension upgrade
I played around with some Ford F-150 springs trying to get more lift out of my cart. real stiff of course, then i put osme on with 6" lift and they didnt budge. im going to end up adding 4" to the 4" lift spacers on my marathon to get a small diesel to fit. I have wonderd what others are doing to get more out of those springs or other alternatives.
