g1 one will not start need help

I have a 80 g1 that I have had for about 7 months never had any problems all summer every weekend at camp know I have brought it home and did a lift and tires. I drove it Wednesday with no problems and moved it around in the garage Friday fine also. I did notice Wednesday and Friday it really took a while holding the choke to get it to start just figured because it was about 30 degrees. I went to move it yesterday in garage and noticed I left the key on for about 15 hours. So I tried gas pedal and no problems still cranking and tried to start and it would not start just cranked and cranked. I just pushed it out of the way. I been out in the garage this morning trying to see what is going on. I have pulled plug and checked and have good spark and as bad as I hated to I hit it with small shot of starting fluid and fired right up. I tried it some more and confirmed choke cable is pulling on carb and it just will not fire. The starter motor just spins and spins I also had battery charger hooked just in case it was just barely weak. Were to check next?

Okay I am have it running again and am not sure what the deal was. I pulled the line from carb and have no fuel pumping to it so then I pulled line coming out of the fuel tank and blew thru the line to the pump and then stuck it in a gallon gas can it fired right up so I went ahead and hooked line back up to fuel tank and ran fine so I am not real sure what happened but running again.
