the real mcguyver could do it with bubble gum and a paper clip.......

Sorry, couldn't help myself. You need a clutch puller, it;s basically a threaded bolt that pops that thing off... for sale from sponsors, 35-40 bucks, or take the engine to a dealer and see if they will do it for a fee. Takes 45 seconds with the right tool..

It's simply compression on the crankshaft... I tried a big 3 prong puller once on my Yamaha shieve and broke it, expensive lesson. Took it to a dealer, the mechanic popped it off for nothin, I slipped him 20 bucks....Look up CPP here on the sponsors page, under tools and pullers, 45 dollars for the tool and you will see the logic behind it. The blunt end pushes against the block while the threaded end pulls the shieve off. You have to pull the engine anyway. A new shieve will cost you twice that, if you can find one.

I'm in no way trying to knock anyone but $45 for a long bolt
Surely there is something available from a decent hardware store for a fraction of that price. A specialist would get value from such a device but not a home hobbyist.

I am looking at my CC puller now. It looks like a threaded bolt alright but the simplicity ends there. It spins on a shaft which runs through the center of it and pushs on the crank end when tightened Good luck making that from stuff at your local hardware store. I think even Mc Gyver would have trouble with that.....

Around here they want $70 to $110 to take the clutch off. Depending on what condition, as I was told...I thought it would be cheaper than buying the tool...SURPRISE!!
