Default Pre MCI ignition and MCI ignition parts compatibility

I ran my 2003 TXT pre MCI engine out of oil and locked up one rod on the crankshaft...broke the rod and ruined the crank. I rebuilt a MCI engine to replace it and this is where the problems began...
It will start but not run very well, it really doesn't run well enough to say it runs. Checked and cleaned carburetor, checked timing marks, readjusted valves, checked pulsar coil resistance and replaced ignitor.
At this point my question is, are the pulsar coil from the MCI engine and the ignitor from the pre MCI engine compatible?

Thanks,
Brandon

I'm curious about the same thing. I have to assume the pickup coil must be different, as it is the only part that physically can not be interchanged. Other wise seems like you can use all the pre-mci electrical.
