![]() Currently my voltage reducer(10amp) is hooked up to my lights and is hooked in with my key switch. I want to add a stereo. Do I want to get a separate reducer with a higher amp rating for my stereo?

![]() Yes, you will need more amps.
I wouldn't add another one, but rather get a new 30 amp model and hook all your accessories to it. Scottyb on here sells an excellent reducer on his site. If you add a reducer to your existing setup, two reducers will be pulling from the pack which will drain it more quickly. |

![]() Ok, if its a 20 amp, it may work. I don't know how many amps radios pull, someone will know...

![]() I am guessing a straight radio without an Amp will be fine. Doesn't most radios push around 40-50 watts? Could he at least try it and upgrade if he keeps tripping the reducer?

Sure, he could try it, but it wouldn't trip it, it would burn it out. But I think it would be worth a try. |

![]() Check the fuse rating on the stereo You are thinking of installing. The current draw will be a little less than the fuse rating the radio came with new.

![]() To figure amperage take the total wattage and divide it by the voltage used to power the device. For example a 1500 watt hair dryer in a home with 120V outlet will draw 12.5 Amps

![]() I have a 30 amp reducer and have run headlights, 12v rope lights and the stereo, all at the same time and had no problem. Used the cart to take 4 people around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. Used the stereo to play Ray Charles Christmas album. All went well....
