What Octane do you use?
Just curious what octane gas everyone uses. I use my cart for Sporting Clays and find using 93 Octane gas with no ethanol works best for me.

Re: What Octane do you use?
Low performance golf cart engines don't require anything more than 87 octane. The compression ratio is so low, it doesn't justify using a higher octane rating.
You are very lucky to find any non ethanol gas. In 2008, the requirement to mark ethanol dispensing gas pumps was dropped. That is when ethanol became the main ingredient to boost octane ratings. I know of one gas station by me that has a non ethanol pump. They are thinking about ending it soon because of the cost. That leaves us with the local airport for non ethanol av-gas. As a licensed A&P mechanic, I could buy from the airport without question. It's not worth the $7 per gallon for av-gas to me. I throw some SeaFoam into all of my 87 octane, and don't worry about it. I burn it all before phase separation occurs. |

Re: What Octane do you use?
The local Casey's has "no Alcohol" pumps. And that's all I burn in all my gas engines.

Non ethanol gas is fairly easy to find in Texas especially once you get out of the major metroplexes.

Pick your State to see if you are lucky enough to live by ethanol free gas.

Re: What Octane do you use?
Your cart may run better with 87 octane if your engine doesn't require 93
