You can remove it from the rear, I will if I ever split the case. Most don't get in there and have no issues with it. There is a sticky about disconnecting it from the engine, you get a couple mph from having it cranked full in there is not much difference on most carts I've done. One I tested with 22 tires did 27 with governor and 30 without, but took a long run to get there.

Good morning,
I got the rear back together but now the forward and reverse are backwards, I followed the instructions " Install countershaft and forward wheel gear "marked F" with thick silver color thrust washer. Could the gear selection lever be on wrong? Or will I have to break the case down again?
Thanks,

I can't help you on that one, my manual is G9 and think its different. If you don't have the outside arm on backwards or something its likely inside unfortunately.

Evidently I had a moment, that fixed it.
The drive belt on this thing is Very loose, I measured the top and it's 1.13" which is showing in spec 1.06-1.22 I think. But it could be stretched I guess. I'll order a new one and maybe a heavier secondary spring to try.

i don't know if you did,but you can leave the plastic washer out of the driven pulley and that will tighten up the belt.also the yamaha sheaves wear a lot and that will make belt loose.i've worked at a yamaha dealer for 11 years and seen a few yamaha tricks and problems.

another ? The drive clutch is making a loud sound so it's probably time to either R&R or put a different one on. I found some new ones for 200ish, what would parts cost to R&R and where's a good source? And tie rods or ends?
Thanks
