Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
Only thing you can do is either turn off your lights when you stop, get a second battery that is isolated from the rest of your system, or get used to it.

Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
I would hookup a voltmeter and see just how low the voltage drops when you are starting the engine. I think you have a big enough battery that your radio shouldnt shut off. Maybe you have a corroded connection somewhere. Either that or your radio is hyper sensitive to the voltage it needs to stay on.
If everything checks out you could also set your engine to stay running/idle when you let off the gas. I have both my carts set to run that way. Dimming lights are one thing but it would have to be really annoying for the radio to keep shutting off all the time. If I had to bet - I would say something is off on your cart. The S/G does use some amps, but it isnt that much. |

Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
It could be there is a problem, but if the lights dim that doesn't sound odd. The radio cutting out could be due to the newer digital equipment's design. Voltage drops cause them to shut off? I don't know. I haven't bought an accessory radio in decades. Our cart is equipped with any one of several smart devices with MP3 music files and an Oontz water-resistant portable speaker system. That way my stereo can move from the cart to my side table equipped lawn chair once I reach my destination. Theft-proof.

Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
I checked my Club Car. At rest I have 12.7 volts at the battery and it drops to 11.4 with the S/G turning over.

Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
You could put a capacitor in the radio power circuit. Or just buy a regulated power supply.

Re: Lights and Radio Dim with Gas Precedent
Everybody go outside tonight and turn your headlights on. Then start the car/truck. See what happens.
