Re: New LED headlights pulsing
Thanks for both replies. Truly appreciate the info. I have a complete additional set of lights that I just hooked up temporarily (including the harness) and have the same results. Going to keep digging. Thanks again

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
That's a common issue with Yamahas as they don't charge there battery at a steady rate, 14.5- to 16 volts is normal as it "dances". That's what the lights are seeing

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
Ok well I’ll try the voltage stabilizer. Amazon Prime to the rescue. $23 and will handle up to 4 amps. Thank you guys!

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
Let us know how it works, this is common they charge hard due to short trips expected the VR goes pretty high. Some will over volt audio equipment and turn it off.

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
Some have tried other voltage regulators, don't know if they were successful. Some have bought the old model that was adjustable for a G2 iirc, and then you can set it down to what a car is like 13.5v and that helps. G9 went to a solid state and goes up over 15v sometimes which makes some electronics angry...in addition it turns on/off all the time making even regular lights seem to blink a little while voltage changes 12-15 rapidly. My old 55w halogens do, but I rarely use them so not put the LED I bought on the cart yet.

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
You can modify the stock system to charge at a steady 14.5 volts.

Re: New LED headlights pulsing
Fyi
The Metra piece I mentioned (par number is IBVSTABL) takes anywhere from 8-40v input and outputs a very consistent, solid 12v. I've verified this myself with oscilloscopes and done a lot of testing with this piece. It is rock solid as long as current demand is low. 2A is no problem. It will do 3 amps for short term, but anything over 3 amps it gets hot really quick. We set one on fire at 4... 2 amps or less it will do for 100 hours straight no problem. |
