Default Voltage Reducer For Gas Golf Cart

I’ve got an Ezgo gas golf cart with a 12 volt starter battery. I hooked up my sound bar and it works until I hit the gas then it powers down. I’m guessing that it’s pulling more amps while in motion.

Would a standard voltage reducer hooked up to my sound bar solve the problem?

No. Why would you want to reduce the voltage?

After it starts does it play normally?

It’s powering down probably because it’s over voltage. That’s usually due to a bad voltage regulator. But you should verify with a meter what voltage you have stopped and moving.

It’s got nothing to do with amps.

If he's talking about it cutting out while the SG is is starting the cart that is normal like a car. That's why I asked him to clarify.

And yes over voltage could cause it to shut down.

Did you ever have any luck figuring your problem out?

I'm trying to install radio and lights that only work when the key is on. Everything works fine till you hit the gas then radio and lights loose power. Any ideas.

Thanks.

The manual states 'at governed speed the battery voltage should read between 14.5v and 15.5v'. My guess on certain accessories is overvoltage....

I recently put a tach on mine, the first one I tried was rated 12v and did not work, the second one that did work great is rated 12-36v. I have LED head/tail lights on it that work fine as they're ok for overvoltage
