Cool 06 bad boy buggy 4x 4 tow/run

Husband bought a BBB (I know he should have ran) it was running great when he got it. He replaced one battery and the battery cables. When he tries to attach the last cable it has major wire melting sparks. I looked in the forums. OK easy, put the tow run switch to tow, only problem is where the heck is the tow/run switch? We double checked to wiring (thanks to the help from here). The direction switch is in neutral, the lights are not connected but the wench is. No one in Tallahassee will work on a BBB. Any further help would be appreciated.

Cables are connected wrong. Is the new battery backwards?

Not usually a good idea to replace just one battery, the rest are going to have different capacities due to their age, and will reach their highest state of charge much sooner than the new one. The new battery will always be undercharged, which will drastically reduce it's output and overall lifespan.

No it's not backwards, double checked it. My other thought is that the wench has power because we can not locate a tow/run switch. As far as the batteries, the others were new. Don't know why one old one was left.

If the running system is series, it will not have a run/tow switch. R/T switch is used on a sepex system.

No run/tow switch on them. Used a 100wbl8ght bulb (old style) run current through bulb until bulb dims then connect final battery , no spark no arc
