Default Battery Issue/Burned Black Connection

My cart is having a NO GO situation. Solenoid does not click

Resting all batteries read 8.6 volts (they have been off the charger for a week)

I inspected my connections closely and saw this. . .

Any ideas?

Despite the 8.6 v measured voltage I can safely say this battery is toast.

The Negative terminal wiggles.

I’m obviously going to have replace this battery.

Please tell me I don’t need to replace all 6

Depending on the age, you'll be okay with replacing that one.

Was that your problem all along? That could give you a intermittent go-no go situation.

Hmmm... bad connection says we...
You don't have to replace it.
Drill and tap in the stub next to it. Use a drill stop so it will not drill more than about 5/8". Tap for 5/16x18 threads.
Install a 5/16x18 stainless steel stud. You can cut the head off of a bolt 1-1/4" bolt if you cant find a stud. A standard fluted tap will not cut all the way to the bottom, so the stud will only thread in maybe 1/2 way. Thread the stud in by hand as far as it will go, use two nuts tightened against each other to turn it in another 1 or 2 turns so it bites into the lead. Remove the nuts and install your cable. Tighten the nut to no more than 100in-lbs.

If it wasn’t the problem, it is certainly the best place to start. The cable would develop crud/build up over time.

I’m going to replace the cables and the battery. Perhaps I will try Fairtax’s repair suggestion.

Hopefully that will get me rolling.

Fairtax's remedy get you going to see how it runs. If the terminal wiggles, there might be electrolyte leakage you'll need to watch for.

Thanks to this outstanding Forum I was able to get my Frankencart ACG H3 (Bastardized with CC parts) back on the road.

The problem was likely due to arcing from a bad connection. See photo.

I ended up replacing the battery and also upgrading my solenoid. The cart seemed a little more spirited after the solenoid upgrade.

In the process, all the cables were replaced, terminals cleaned with baking soda.

Thanks everyone for the support
