Default 3/4 Pedal Before Movement

My 2000 DS batteries for the past few months have been on their last legs. Got almost 6 years out of them, they have severed me well.

For the last 6 weeks, they have been so weak that riding round would drop them into the low 40's on an easy putt. Not paying too much attention to how much pedal was being used at the time.

Yesterday I put in a new 6 pack of T875's and cleaned up all the cables and put it on charge for the night. Today we took it out for a ride, the solenoid clicked right off the bat like normal. Then it took better than 1/2 pedal just to get it to move and more just to get a little speed out of it. Once I got a good kick out of it, rolling along it took off and went as fast as it should have with my foot heavy on it.

My first plan of attack will be to pull out a few batteries and take a look at and clean up the potentiometer and see if any changes. Is there anything else I should be looking for or at while trying to figure out what's going on?

Hi Swan,

I don't have a lot of suggestions for you due to lack of knowledge but I wanted to bump this for you. Is your cart series or sepex? Other members probably know what you have.

I think your multi-step potentiometer or v-glide wiper contacts should be near 0 ohms with pedal up and gradually go to 5000 ohms with pedal down. That should be fairly smooth in transition. If you notice a jump while slowly pushing the pedal, your problem is the wiper itself. You may be able to clean it with some electronic spray cleaner.

It’s kind tight in there but you’ll probably ned to get the back cover off of the box and check the resistors on the back. One of them possibly has burned out or the wire has cracked from vibration over the years.
Somewhere around here not too long ago I remember seeing a thread with details on which resistors to buy to replace them with.

I second what FT said. I would go ahead and (I know PITA) take a battery or 2 out and get a real good look at the V Glide.

ok heres the strange thing about this . I had a long day yesterday and didn't get to look at it as planned . I talked to the wife and she took it out around noon and it did the same thing. I picked a limit switch (just to replace when I had it open) but didn't get home till about 8 pm last night. Jumped on it just see and it ran fine , so I took it for about a half hour stop and go putt and it was fine the whole time .....Strange

That's like good news and bad news at the same time. I hate intermittent problems. I hope it keeps going for you. Maybe it just took a while to get used to the new batteries!
