Carb Question
I have an 83 2 stroke and I was wondering if there is an aftermarket carburetor that I could use instead of the stock one?

Re: Carb Question
Kinda vague ?
you want a direct replacement, performance carb, If modded enough, anything can be made to fit. What's wrong with the stock carb? |

Re: Carb Question
A performance carb would be great. I'm not sure what's wrong with the stock one it will run but then after about 30 seconds it chokes down and seems like it's flooding

Re: Carb Question
It could just need to be cleaned, the inlet valve maybe dirty, or have you may trying to adjust your float level. The air filter also may need to be cleaned or replaced...and I'm thinking someone with a little more knowledge will chime in behind me soon. Good Luck.

Re: Carb Question
Float is stuck so the needle and seat isn't stopping the flow of fuel. Take the carb off and clean everything really good, make sure the needle moves freely in the seat. Put 'er bak together and see how it runs......good luck

Re: Carb Question
Thanks! I took everything apart and cleaned it well. The floater may have been stuck, it runs but the choke has to be half way out. If it is all the way in it bogs down and won't go.

Re: Carb Question
sounds like there still something in the jet or one the holes in the carb, the crank seals may also be bad.

Re: Carb Question
HAH, I know what that is..while running with the wheels off the ground spray carb cleaner around the throttle shaft, if the engine smooths out then replace the carb. Mine did the same 1/2 choke thing, I sprayed the carb and the engine smoothed right out. I put the new carb on and now the only problem I have is the occasional surge, outside of that she runs like a champ.........I got my carbs from our site sponsor www.everythingcarts.com for around 120 per carb shipped.....so happy with them I love to spread the word.
