g1 won't idle
Just put a cylinder kit on a friends cart. The cart started easily and runs like a scalded cat, but will not idle. Its either not running or hang on to your hat. Pulled the carb apart and everything looked good and not much crud. Idle screw adjustment has no effect whatsoever. The cart had been setting for about three years and the gas was lacquered up and I would guess that is what is plugging up the idle circuit. Any and all thoughts and comments appreciated.
Thanks Oldcoot |

Re: g1 won't idle
Sorry but your car is not supposed to idle. There is a micro switch acuated by the acellerator pedal. It will only run when you push on the pedal. There are way's around this, but why would you. Later Dave

Re: g1 won't idle
yeah you can make the 4 cycles idle with a mod or two, but the 2 cycles wont idle stock and dont like to idle when you do the mod. the reason they cut off is because like on a golf course it saves you from turning the engine on and off on every hole...

Re: g1 won't idle
There is a check in the owner's manual that states it should idle nicely. it tells you to disconnect the black/white stripped wire at the switch on the gas pedlle. the start the engine and make sure it idles.

Re: g1 won't idle
If its all or nothing, I would check your throttle cable. They have a tendency to stretch and cause issues like that. A simple adjustment on your throttle linkages may be all it takes.
