Default long prep, nearly ready for 48v?

My little workhorse has come a long way in just over a year, and served very well for most of it- cheers to this forum, It would have been MUCH different alone.
I have the AXE4844 almost in my hand. Ive got Scottys 4ga wire set, voltage meter and F/R switch in place, among other things that went bad or looked weak. I chose this controller because it seems I can keep 36v and vglide untill I can bite off another new pack( will go with 6x8v) and gain curb climbing torque until then.
The questions: This will work right?
after this, all I should need is the battery pack, 48v HD solenoid, and a PB6?
Can these Alltrax be plugged in and programmed while on the cart?
Unless I run across someone needing used batteries and possibly other stuff, it may be another year before I pull the trigger on this last step.

The new stuff will work fine on 36v until you are ready for the big jump. The AXE controller can be re-programed while installed in the cart using the correct cable, software, and safety procedures.
