I think he was wondering if the smoke coming out of the cart smelled like gas..

Blowby smoke is grey , oily smoke..and it smells putrid...like baked grease.

The engine is seven years old, I wouldn't be surprised to find a rats nest or two..

I just got it home and have not checked the compression.

you could always put an elbow on the tailpipe and angle it down temporarily ..just a thought, if you're not in the mood to do a lot of things to get it smoke free.

It won't make it go away, but for some reason, aiming it down dissipates it more..it is less noticable

Rickochet is my golf forum handle, since that is what happens when I hit golf balls into the woods which happens very often.

Thanks for the tips.

As mentioned earlier, a compression check will speak volumes

I know some would say sure, based on the white smoke and burned oil smell, I don't think you know for sure till you open one up, it's all conjecture and educated hypothesis up to that point, but your best advise if you *want to get to the bottom of the issue* is to do a compression check.

the manual is at the top of the gas ez go section.

Thanks everyone for the input. I bought this from a dealer. In addition to the smoke I found a few other things that I wasn't thrilled with so I took it back and bought something else.
