No solenoid click on 95 TXT
Not very experienced with the gas Ez Go's and I got a friend with a 95 that died and now the solenoid wont work when the pedal is pressed. It works when I jump it with a screwdriver but otherwise nothing. What components if any are in that circuit before the solenoid? I dont want to just tell him to get a solenoid and put it in if that isnt the problem. Thanks for any help

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
Start with the micro switches that activate the solenoid if you look at it it will be the small wires coming out of it not the large posts, disconnect the small wires and then with a multimeter and the key on hit the gas pedal and check for voltage and continuity if you are missing those you have a bad microswitch either the pedal switch or a shifter switch. If you do have voltage and continuity then it is a bad solenoid
jumping the posts just eliminated the switching that the solenoid does when their is input voltage from the small wires. all a solenoid is a low voltage input switch that triggers a high voltage switch to open and close |

What does is mean if when u jump the solenoid it stil does nothing. My cart just died and doesn't try to turn over. I thought it was gonna be an easy fix but so far not so easy. Sorry for the hijack.

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
connect the two large posts on the solenoid with a screw driver if the cart starts then move on to the instructions above

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
sorry just reread that , check for voltage at the solenoid you need 12v on one of the large posts if you dont have it then you need to trace the cable back to the battery for voltage you may just have a dead battery or a bad cable

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
I have 12v from the battery on the one side of the solenoid, press the gas and I don't get 12v on the other side that runs to the starter. The pedal micro switch is good, just tested that. The ignition seems ok cause when I turn it on an press the gas I get about 4v on the red wire to the small post on the solenoid. I replaced the solenoid at the beginning of all this cause I wasn't gettin 12v on the output side of the solenoid to the starter when pressing the pedal cause it was on 25 bucks or something and that was easier than tearing into this thing but now I'm stumped. Any help would be great. I have to be missing something small cause this thing has ran like a champ.

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
from what i see you have a voltage drop somewhere a wire is loose or grounded to prove this you can put a jumper wire from the battery to the 4v wire and the cart should start , you need to trace your connections and wires something is killing your 12v , it might even be your not grounded well enough on the battery or electrical system. sometimes you have to dig to find the problem and most times its something simple

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
Found the problem...bad solenoid.
D HD....after doing some research on the starting circuit of this cart its very simple. If your pedal box micro switch tests out as good and your SURE that the solenoid is good the only thing left is the fuse (check it with ohm meter too) or a broken or bad ground wire. |

Re: No solenoid click on 95 TXT
thank you for posting the fix for this , so many people stop by, get the information they need to fix their cart and then we never hear from them again. I'm sure someone will have this problem again and will be happy to be able to find the fix for it.
