Default Hitachi GSB107 Starter/ Generator

Looking for a video or instructions pertaining to the dissasembly and testing of this Starter/Generator from my 95 Medalist. How do I tell if I have a GSB107- ? or ??. Apparently there are more than 1 dash number of these.
Thanks,
Wayne

Took it apart. Brushes are worn out. Not sure how to check the armature. Are the commutator bars connected to each other or are they supposed to be isolated from each other. I kinda think each one should have a partner 180 degrees away but don't know for sure. Any help is appreciated.

Before I order brushes I would like to check out the armature. Can I do this with an ohm meter or do I need to take it to a starter/alternator repair shop?

I'd clean the armature with some scotch bright if you have no signs of arching and install the new brushes. Stay away from sand paper or emery unless you clean it totally to remove any paper shavings.

Brushes fixed it. Starts great and even seems to run better.
