Well something like that is going on. I just blew another one. I already tore into it again. The head bolts were way loose. I think the gap between the motor and the mounts is too much. I don't know if they are all that way, but I didn't think much of it originally. Knowing what I know now, I think putting the torque on the mounting bolts but, still having somewhat of a gap between motor and mount, is giving the motor just enough play to loosen the head bolts up a bit. Three of the head bolts also act as mount bolts. I'm gonna close that gap some how this time. Does that make any sense?

In the tech section there is a thread called Need a manual. Half way down there is a picture that shows that there should be two washers per head bolt. As long as the head bolts are torqued down the three that are also engine supports should have no effect.

I assume you mean mounting bolts? No, I'd say the old boy I got her from used what ever he had laying around, and I didn't know any better. Are you saying normally the mount is sandwiches between two somewhat thick washers? Thaw something like I'm planning. Let me know what it should be.

No I meant the 5 cylinder head bolts. I just wonder that if these are no there then the bolts might be bottoming out before the head is down tight.

I think that was the case. I stopped at fastenal and picked up some "Williams" washers. Which are basically thick hardened machine washers. Used those, and I even bought new torque wrench to be safe. I think the bottoming out thing hit the nail on the head. It's to bad I'm too ignorant to all this, or I would have known those need thicker washers. Hopefully this will help another newbie in the future. Thanks for the help guys! We will see if she continues to run like a champ.
