G16 motor dampers/mounts
Hi, and thanks in advance for any info- I am new to the cart world and BGW- have just acquired my first- 1997 G16AR Gas, and am in process of "fixin" er up- I have found lots of helpful info on here but haven't spotted a thread about these engine mounts- My engine sorta seems loose, it will lift up some on either side and will also sorta twist- I have ordered new dampers but im not sure how rigid it should be- I don't see any kind of tensioner on this model like I've read about for some others - with new dampers and everything tightened should there be any wiggle? also is there a certain place it will line up? Thx

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
Wm, Welcome to the site, and congrats on the 16!! Great car, in fact, I think the best out there!! Essness or Dave in Va. both have G16's. The easiest place to find them is in "The G8 Club", I would say! Dave has converted his to a different motor, but he will still remember what it looked like before! You can discuss your 16 right there in G8 if you like!
"The New Guy" has a 16 also, and would be helpful as well!! |

I don't remember the dampers, but I know that the engine was rigid--there was no wiggle. Like Mike said, the G16 is a great cart

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
Mounts go under all four corners, no wiggle at all. HD "yamahauler" models used metal disks instead of rubber, def. Not supposed to move, muffler is mounted to motor and frame, movement would eventually result in broken muffler.

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
Thanks for info guys- I will investigate further this weekend - Will I be able to replace the dampers without pulling engine completely out? Has anyone tried this? Thx

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
If it were me, I'd take it out and clean everything up. Then put it back in!!

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
If you loosen all four and remove muffler bottom bolt, but leave the nuts on two, you can tilt the motor and do two at a time.

Re: G16 motor dampers/mounts
I just pulled the sleeve out of the rubber bushing and ground the sleave down about 1/4 inch and problem solved
