Ethanol Gas?
I just got my first cart! Do y'all find that gas with ethanol cause issues? I'm just wondering. From past experiences I know boat motors are finicky. I appreciate your advice.

Re: Ethanol Gas?
They came out with some pretty scarey stories about how it was going to ruin aluminum fuel components, and gum up everything.
I bought an additive to use in my antique truck, but my garden tractor, and my weed eater I just put gas in, and haven't noticed any problems with them so far. |

Re: Ethanol Gas?
My local small motor shop and boat repair love ethanol fuel. Their business has never been better.
Quite a few small engines use a float needle with a "vitrol" tip similar to rubber that ethanol eats. I stay away from it if I can in everything but but little truck. It doesn't run right with good fuel, go figure. |

Re: Ethanol Gas?
Ethanol absorbs moisture, and deteriorates rubber hoses. There are plenty of guys on here that have had ethanol problems.
I run my cart all year, so it doesn't have time to sit in there. I put Seafoam in all of my gas as soon as I buy it. |

Re: Ethanol Gas?
SeaFoam and Star-Tron are both very good for preventing ethanol-related issues.Run a little in each tank, and forget about issues. The stuff works,I swear by Star-Tron.

Re: Ethanol Gas?
I live near the coast (lots of boats) so I have a lot of access to ethanol free gas. If I use that I don't need this other stuff do I?

Re: Ethanol Gas?
Good clean fuel should be enough but a little of the other stuff isn't bad but I wouldn't use much. My buddy insisted on putting some in my Honda Rancher, ran like crap and toasted the plug. Drained as much as I could, refilled with straight fuel and a new plug. Ran iffy for about a quarter of a tank and then cleared up. I keep him away from my fuel now

Fwiw
FWIW If you live either in a state, city, or county that mandates ethanol blended gasoline, you can buy Ethanol Free gasoline at municipal airports, marinas racetracks, farm stores/cooperatives are a few I know.

Re: Ethanol Gas?
Oh COME ON NOW, guys - You can't seriously think that our Federal Government would actually mandate a product that wasn't in our best interest, the best quality, and just generally "Unicorns and Rainbows" now, DO YOU !??!!
I'm lucky enough to live in a County without reformulated requirements OR emissions testing, for that matter, but if I didn't I would def find a way to NOT run reformulated/Ethanol fuel. I can't speak FOR additives, but I can speak VEHEMENTLY against Ethanol fuel. |
