Re: Caroche Runabout
But it DOES have road tires. Those are definitely not golf cart tires.
This was set up for being street legal from the factory. I would LOVE to have this piece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Caroche Runabout
Just back from a long road trip, but the "Vanguard Sport Coupe" is in my driveway, waiting for a proper spot in the garage.
Attached a couple pictures. It is in rough shape, but pretty much all there. Scotty, the brakes need total rebuild. I am going to start with trying to rebuild the existing wheel and Master cylinders. I need lots more time researching and diagnosing. Did I mention it is rough. And I need to finish building the DS Kit Car too, LOL. Aflyer |

Re: Caroche Runabout
David,
Come on you know they can't put it in the add if it isn't true, LOL The tires are 5.30 X 12, same size as the trailer tires I brought it home on. Aflyer |

Re: Caroche Runabout
LOVE IT! Needs probably a full can of Turd Polish but worth it! Those wheels/rims if you are not going to keep it 100% stock would look awesome with the rims widened outwards and the baby moons chromed and put back in the new "dish". If you go camping with it, you ans take it out for a spin in the pouring rain and stay dry, unlike most other carts there!

Re: Caroche Runabout
When you sent me the pictures last night, I didn't realize it was some sort of special edition. I thought it was just a regular Caroche.... but I still don't believe it. lol.

Re: Caroche Runabout
From what I have read so far, Club Car built 50 prototypes with Bob Beaumont, who founded Vanguard Citicar.
After that production went to Sebring FL, and they built 4400 of the funky wedge shaped things. So this little gem was a Caroche with a roof and doors, etc. Vin # is R95. love to find out if there are others out there. Oh and it is a 36Volt system. Aflyer |

Re: Caroche Runabout
This Vanguard Sport Coupe was actually sold by Sebring Vanguard, produced by Club Car. The following year Sebring Vanguard moved production to Florida and created the CitiCar based on the Club Car chassis.
So George, what you have is the VERY first model year of a the first mass produced electric vehicle in the United States. This is an amazing find! Chicago Tribune article on this car: http://archives.chicagotribune.com/1...t-wont-pollute |
