Default Trickle Charger for 48V

After my "Dead Battery " thread, I decided to get new batteries. Now I want to keep them up. As previously stated, I use my cart only occasionally, so most of the time its just sitting in my garage. My used 48V, 4x12 V cell 06 Precident came with your standard Powerdrive 2 charger. Most people are telling me to just leave it plugged in all the time. One person in the previous thread suggested getting a trickle charger. I thought that giving the cart a full charge on the Powerdrive and then leaving it on a battery tender trickle charger sounded like a good idea. But the only one I found (so far) is this one on Amazon

That sucker is $300. Anyone know of cheaper alternatives? Thats almost as much as a new charger.

I think Battery Tender Jr runs around 30.00.

And that's exactly what I do with mine, using the above trickle charger.

A lot of folks here have very good things to say about the Save A Battery Maintainer linked above.
I plan on getting one myself.

this is what most people do. the obc will check the charge every 4 days after a full charge
no need for this unless you only use your cart every 6 mths

I'm using the same one RUT suggested too. Does a nice job. I'll top off with outboard charger then connect the Save A Battery while I'm gone for a couple of weeks. Nice coming back to a fully charged pack.

Do you need one for each battery in a 4 12 pack?
That is almost 400.00

Thanks
Phil
