This typically happens due to the way EZGO wanted the I/Os wired. The B+ from the battery/reed switch go into the 10pin connector then through a trace out through the tow/run then back in to the direction switch then back in and out again to the key, etc and so on.
Essentially its one big long line of series arranged switches that weave in and out of the controller. The last component in line is the solenoid. If the coil is shorted or you get a good enough spike that entire lineup is shorted. If there isnt a fuse installed to the low current inputs usually the first couple stages of this input chain burn up, weather it be wiring or traces. In another case if the tow/run switch is plugged in while set to run you can get an arc. Too often I see internal traces burn up instead of easily replaceable external wiring so I would say you were fortunate here. |
