I was getting 28-29 with just zip tying the spring. Why do we need new gears?

We need new gears to go faster.....! My last Gas DS went 48 with no lift and 6:1's. It was nice to ride around at my neighborhoods speedlimit (30mph) and just be putting along.

Update!
With the gears and zip tie I’m getting 39mph before I physically have to slow down because it feels sketchy! Maybe I need an alignment or a balance? The golf cart keeps up with all traffic now on street legal roads here in FL!

That's awesome! What size tires do you have again? And also, how is the acceleration?

23/10/14 with spacers
I did not lose any low end power, maybe 6% guessing

Got a couple questions about gears.
What gear ratio is stock?
Where are you buying the 9:1?
Who installs them or what is involved in DIY?
Thanks!!

The stock ratio is around 11:5
You can get the gears from Nivel or pretty much any dealer would be able to order them.
As far as the install... the rear end has to be split in half so it's a little involved. You can do it yourself with basic mechanical knowledge..

Higher the gear more top speed you will have but with more top speed you lose low end torque/ acceleration stock 11:5 good low end power and decent top end 6:1 with no mods will take off slower and struggle a bit on steep hills with a load but will top out a lot faster
