Accidental Short While Changing Speed Sensor
2009 Club Car 48 volt Precedent. Was changing out my speed sensor today. I FORGOT TO PUT IT IN TOW! Went to check the torque on the two forward facing posts on the motor - wrench slipped and sparks flew. Now the cart will not go in forward - the solenoid clicks when pedal is depressed but no movement. The cart will go fine in reverse. I checked the switch and reversed the wires. Still no forward. Just reverse. Just because its clicking, doesn't mean its ok, right. Any help greatly appreciated!

Re: Accidental Short While Changing Speed Sensor
You need a controller. No doubt about it. Might as well upgrade the cart now. The Alltrax is cheaper than a factory replacement and will give you far better performance.

Re: Accidental Short While Changing Speed Sensor
Thanks for the help. Yup..probably right about the upgrade too. I was beginning to notice intermittent speed on the cart too. Wouldn't stay at speed and sluggish take offs. That was the other reason I was fiddling around checking connections and speed sensor. Will a new controller alleviate any of those symptoms ya think?

And the lesson here is.... ?
Tow mode really isn't enough, you need to disconnect the pack negative ANY time you work on the cart. |

Re: Accidental Short While Changing Speed Sensor
For all of you people watching, It would be a good idea to buy 4 of these covers for your motor connections. Might save you $500 and a lot of grief.
