It definitely didn't strip out because of the depth the ends were threaded, in fact neither part looks at all damaged. The tie rod ends were nearly all the way threaded into the rod, maybe 1/2" of threads left. That's why this seems so odd, as if one component is the wrong size. |

Re: Tie Rod Separation
Possibly 1/2 is from a different cart manufacturer? In any event, I'd just get a whole new one.

Re: Tie Rod Separation
Yeah, that's the plan ultimately. I just welded the jam nut on the one I have. The only concern I have in ordering a new one is that I don't know if this is an aftermarket tie rod specific to the drop axle lift. I am trying to find the factory specs to make sure I have the right length.

Re: Tie Rod Separation
Here's a couple pics. The "ST" on the spindle arms are the only demarcation I can see.

Re: Tie Rod Separation
There are 2 series of numbers on the tie rod end. The first I can make out clearly H279AI0. The second is a bit obfuscated but I think it's 1605R.

Re: Tie Rod Separation
Looks like the axle has been welded on the passenger side? Looks to be butted together. Seems it might be worth scabbing a plate over the weld on front & back, if there’s room for such. Just in case it’s a little weak next to the weld.

It appears that the tie rod repair is holding well. |
