Re: Electric EZGO upgrade
Oh, I forgot to add, a sepex motor is also known as a shunt motor.

Re: Electric EZGO upgrade
If there is a possibility that I may also have to change the controller on the series cart what makes it better then a PDS system? I am just curious of the advantages/disadvantages of the PDS or series cart. not trying to be a pain just want to make sure I purchase the right cart the first time. Also I see adds for used PDS carts all the time locally lifted with a speed chip installed and no mention of a upgraded controller. If I were to buy a PDS cart and lift it and was not to rough on it could I wait till I got the money to upgrade the controller or is that something that should be done right away?

Re: Electric EZGO upgrade
That is what I have heard it refferred to as "shunt" the term sepex kinda threw me for a loop, just trying to learn.

Re: Electric EZGO upgrade
A series motor can take just about any voltage you want to put on it, right up to 120 volts+ and a sepex motor would burn up.
The controllers on both carts are usually 275 amps and should be sufficient for you to run around the neighborhood with. The biggest controller you would ever need would be a 400 amp and they are similarly priced for both series and sepex. A PDS cart has the ability to install a speed chip ($5.00 on eBay) while a series cart has no options for that. From a layman's point of view the PDS cart is easier to deal with. |

Re: Electric EZGO upgrade
Thanks for all of your help! I guess I just have to decide on a series or PDS system, sounds like they both have advantages. one last question, if you were going to build a cart with light modding (lift and larger tires) what would you go with?
