The 400 Amp will require an upgrade of all #6 cables to #4
The 500 Amp will require an upgrade of all #6 cables to #2

$25.00 difference .

Like Garry says, not everyone agrees but I would run your cables with a 500 amp controller Your short runs are 4g and the long ones are 2g? sounds sound to me. I have in the past seen built carts with4g and 650 amp controllers that didn't melt? They may not have been as effective as possible, but.... worse case scenario you make some new shorties later? This is just my experience and others may disagree

I am saying go with it..... I know what others are Doing ... and some are looking at a chart recently linked to the site from the engineers at alltrax which suggests #2 is needed for 500amp and up controllers but I and OTHERS have run 650 amp controllers in the past with out problems on 4 ga wires...... For years. So suddenly it is not enough? But you have your long motor runs in 2 ga and the short runs in 4ga, Correct ... well this sounds fine to me. I say go with it .... Sorry guys but this has worked in the past just fine?
