g9 brake job
some maintainence on the g9 today. cart finnally gets to put its feet up lol
working on the brakes. pulled off both drums found out they were in need of adjustment, one side not worn at all verses other side worn well. also one side has some drum damage ( see pics) the lip of the drum that fits into the expanded part of the hub is mostly gone. going to check tomoreo if drums are too mutch out of round, if not going to see if they can be reused. any input? drums don't look out of round, but measureing tomoreo. pads look ok to me, but measuring them tomoreo too. hopefully can re-use the drums and get the brakes adjusted right and get her on the road again! thanks for any input guys! (sorry for the long post on brakes lol) |

Re: g9 brake job
Saber, mine were I thought bad when I did my build in Oct. Just ordered new shoes from CCP, got them and mine have about 3/32 or so on them. The new ones have maybe 5/32 on them(plan on measuring them just haven't got there yet) so maybe I'm not gonna put them on yet. So what I'm saying, is new ones don't have as much lining on them as you might think they should. So maybe they last along time.
On edit, I just looked at yours, and they look pretty good, but that one drum looks to far gone, I think I would be saving for a new one soon. |

Re: g9 brake job
Take them apart and lube them so the adjusters work. One side at a time tho. And somewhere I saw some pdf or something on how to reassemble correctly. Maybe on CCP's web site.
If I remember, I'll post where. Mike |

Re: g9 brake job
The shoes don't look too bad but I would replace the broken drum.
