bettery compartment cleanliness
Ok so Keep em clean.... I would like to dress up my battery compartment so all the wires are neat and tidy. I would like to figure a way to keep it cleaner in there. it does not take long before dirt builds up on the sides of the batteries below the controller and F/r switch. kind of a hard spot to clean. looking for a way to keep it a little cleaner in there.. Maybe making a plate to put in there across the bottom that seals it from dirt entering as easily, seal up the wheel well from the compartment and maybe putting a finned air vent on the side of the cart body just to be sure to have good air flow going in there????
anyone like to share a picture of under the hood???? |

Re: bettery compartment cleanliness
Check out this thread... about half way down I have a post of one of my fixes for the mud issue spraying into the battery compartment from the rear tires.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...er-flares.html My battery compartment gets pretty nasty as well. I had thought about sealing it up like you were talking about, but am worried about the heat on the controller side. As of right now, I disconnect the main B+ cable to kill power every where in the cart, and take a small pressure washer to it. Electric pressure washer, so not a lot of pressure. I clean off everything and take my blower and dry everything off, or let it air dry. The FNR assembly and the moving/rustable parts get a coat of silicon lubricant and the battery terminals get a coat of protectant about every other wash when it starts to wear off. Reattach the battery cable when everything is good and dry. I'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but with the amount of mud hanging off of the buggie sometimes, and INSIDE the buggie, it's about my only option to keep it clean. |

Re: bettery compartment cleanliness
wow looks like your whole wheel well has a lot more coverage than mine to begin with, might have to make myself some new wheel wells. was thinking just put a vent on the body to catch air

Re: bettery compartment cleanliness
was thinking something like this... on the body next to the controller and f/r switch to catch a breeze and keep it cool in there, might be a good idea even without sealing the bottom and back of the controller area.

Re: bettery compartment cleanliness
looks pretty.
thinking more like getting some large truck mudflaps and cutting them to fit the area under the controller and f/r switch and than wrapping it back up along the wheel well so its one solid piece all the way. than attaching it to the inside of the fender with some sort of plastic rivet or something. . also on the inside just use some self tapping sheet metal screws and a washer, screw it right to the frame. bolt the f/r and controller back in place and see what happens. eventually I will put fender flares on so you wouldn't even see where it was connected. I guess maybe put one hole so When I do wash it water can drain |
