Default just purchased 1985 melex *newbie Questions*

Hello I just purchased a 1985 melex cart its 36 volt id number 168142.

I have a few general questions. cart is in great condition. i installed new batteries and gave it a full charge. everything seems to work. i attatched a.....blurry picture, it was taken care of.

1. for this model what is typically the top speed. according to my gps im about 17mph on a flat with tail wind..haha, is this about normal? i had no real expectation besides slow, but want to know if i have improvement somewhere.

2. there is a toggle switch right next to the key and the horn button. I have read that there is a two speed on these carts? would this switch be it. when i run with it off cart is a hair slower, then when i flip the switch i do notice a slight increase in speed. nothing spectacular, but noticable by a few miles an hour. is that what the switch is? is it a governor, can it be adjusted, or am i completely out of the ballpark.

great site btw, learning a lot, thanks for any help

that is a pretty neat little cart. it looks to be in great shape! as far as the switch goes. i would think that would be it. but not sure... the one you want to ask about that is ScottyB. have fun, enjoy it, and welcome to BGW!

If you are getting 20 mph out of a stock cart you are doing good.
