Default 1981 Yamaha G1 2 stroke

Just purchased a G1 running for $400... Everything is in decent shape... however the mounting bracket for the starter/generator is broken.. I ordered two more.. Looks like parts are a little harder to find for this... Can i interchange them with other models...

Looking for some cheap tires and wheels also..

Trying to find a slight vibration in rear at speed... I think it may be the starter since it is not secured... looks to have a new secondary clutch and springs...

When I get photo's I will post them..

for tires and wheels check craigs list or facebook market place. a lot of people take off the stockers and sell them reasonably.

So did you get your starter brackets? I think on the 81 there is one bolt on the bottom the starter gen pivots on and one bolt on top that goes to a spring assembly that acts as an auto tensioner with a bolt on that end also. basically two eye bolts on the ends of a spring lol

Yea I purchased two of them... the guy said they keep breaking so I am going to weld up a more solid bracket..

Here is what I found:

Wont let me post link,... found 2 brackets on Ebay..

I drove this around but notice it has a weird vibration... and it feels sluggish at top speed... almost feels like the governor is stuck on half throttle. It has power on bottom end but top end almost feels like the brake is on or its dragging if that makes sense.

butterfly linkage hooked up and working properly? its a valve in the exhaust manifold. if that's ok check compression

If its an 81 it should have this:

bit steep on price IMO
they seem to work well

I have an 86 G1 that I still use. Do you know if it is the same? If so I will send whatever pictures you would want.

Mike the butterfly linkage was removed... I am going to make sure they did it correctly/... Looks like the guy put different torque springs in secondary clutch... I understand this may limit top end.. I may go back to stock unless anyone has a better idea..
